The INKplant R&D project was the winner of the 2024 CEN and CENELEC Standards+Innovation Award for the European research project that contributed the most to standardization. This is the fourth recognition given, in six editions, to a project involving the Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE.
Financed by the European Union's Horizon 2020 programme, INKplant has developed technologies for the next generation of medical implants to regenerate tissues, customized and manufactured using 3D printing. UNE led the standardization activities and advised the technical partners to effectively capture the scientific and technical results in new CEN and ISO standards.
These standards provide quality control tools for the processes and products of additive manufacturing for customized implants, laying the groundwork to open new European and international markets to research outcomes and innovative solutions through standardization.
