A meeting was held at the headquarters of the Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, on 27 June, to create the UNE subcommittee on Industrialised Construction (CTN-UNE 41/SC14), which aims to encourage the development of technical standards that help boost industrialised construction in our country.
UNE establishes this subcommittee after receiving expressions of interest from AECI, Cluster de la Edificación and CEPCO. It currently involves around 50 entities, including companies, SMEs, research centres, universities, and government agencies.
Laura Ajenjo (Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda), was named president of the subcommittee at the meeting.
Industrialised construction is gaining importance in the building sector due to its benefits, such as efficient construction times, reduced costs, and its contribution to environmental sustainability.
The emergence of these new work models opens the door to new needs. The sector is demanding regulations that define construction processes, establish criteria for evaluating manufacturing quality, and define the various responsibilities throughout the process. Standardisation is responding effectively to this significant challenge.
