The CIDETEC Foundation receives the UNE Innovation Award for integrating standardisation in R&D&i

01/06/2023

The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, has presented the UNE 2023 Innovation Award for integrating standardisation in R&D&i to the CIDETEC Foundation in recognition of the widespread use of standardisation in its R&D&i activities. The head of its European Projects Office, Jon Lacunza, was presented the award during the General Assembly of the Spanish Association for Standardization.

This centre invited UNE to lead standardisation activities in 15 proposals for new European innovation projects, five of which are financed by the European Union. The total number of projects shared between both organisations is seven, making the CIDETEC Foundation one of the main UNE partners for this type of activity, and the largest in the first two years of the current Horizon Europe funding programme (2021-2027).

These projects, most of them still running, are already generating significant standardisation results, such as the publication of a CEN Workshop Agreement, CWA 17896:2022, thanks to the AIRPOXY project; as well as two others promoted by the DEFACTO project, currently in the process of being drawn up.

With this prize, UNE recognises people and organisations in the field of research and innovation that stand out for their contributions in integrating or promoting standardisation into R&D&i activities. Its purpose is to disseminate knowledge of standardisation in the Spanish and international innovative and research community, as well as to increase awareness of the benefits it provides to R&D&i activities and, therefore, to promote their use in this framework.
