04/04/23

The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, and the Technical General Secretariat of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda have signed a partnership agreement to improve the use of technical standards in legislative provisions and to support the public policies of the ministry when necessary.

The CEO of UNE, Javier García, and the technical secretary general of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda, Angélica Martínez, signed this agreement which commits to public-private collaboration and demonstrates the trust that the ministry has in the work carried out by the Spanish Association for Standardization. The signing event was also attended by UNE's vice-president, Luis Rodulfo, and the deputy secretary of the ministry, Jesús Manuel Gómez.

As part of this agreement, a series of actions will be carried out such as promoting standardization requests from the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda to the UNE to develop technical standards to support specific regulations or public policies, and for which a need has been identified to promote initiatives in the field of national or European standardization. Information will be exchanged to find out in advance the implications of changes, modifications or new developments in the field of standardization and at the legislative level. Activities will be undertaken to disseminate topics of mutual interest (events, special publications, sessions on standards in legislation, and others). And they will work together to ensure the protection of the intellectual property of the UNE, EN, ISO and IEC standards mentioned in regulatory and related texts, by adhering to the principles established in terms of the referencing and distribution of standards subject to intellectual protection laws.
