- Under the Protocol, UNE technical standards will be developed, and support will be given to the national Technical Standardisation Committees, as well as to international and European Committees that are of interest to the fishing and aquaculture industry and to Spain's government.
- Actions will also be carried out to disseminate UNE's regulatory documents, through events, special publications and the acquisition of publishing rights on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fishing and Food, among others.
28 November 2018. The Managing Director of Fishing and Aquaculture Management at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fishing and Food (known as MAPA in Spanish), Ignacio Gandarias Serrano, and the Managing Director of the Spanish Association for Standardization (UNE), Javier García Díaz, have reached a collaboration agreement today to carry out activities related to standardization that will lead to improvements in the fishing and aquaculture sector.
The main goal of the agreement is to draw up UNE regulatory documents covering matters such as traceability, consumer information, working conditions, food hygiene and safety, and the marketing of fishing and aquaculture products.
In order to do this, all public and private interest groups considered relevant will be encouraged to participate in the UNE Technical Standardisation Committees that already exist or those that are created for this purpose.
In order to standardise processes and products in the fishing and aquaculture industry, the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) and UNE have worked in collaboration since 2006, and this new protocol sets out a 4-year duration for said collaboration, extendable upon agreement between the parties.
