Experts underscore the importance of standards to promote the data economy

​The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, held the UNE Meeting:New standards for data governance, management and quality, which underscored the importance of standards to promote the data economy.

The Data Office, part of the Secretary of State for Digitization and Artificial Intelligence of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, is promoting the development of three technical specifications on data governance (Specification UNE 0077:2023), data management (Specification UNE 0078:2023) and data quality (Specification UNE 0079:2023), as well as a fourth (Specification UNE 0080:2023) that will allow organizations to systematically evaluate these processes.

Data has become a vital element for the economic development of any type of organization, and is essential to their digital transformation. Therefore, having relevant and sufficiently high-quality data has become a necessity that requires organizations to govern their data in keeping with their business strategy and exploit it in the best possible way.

Taking part in the seminar were Paloma García (UNE), Carlos Alonso (Data Office. Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Digital Transformation), Mario Piattini (University of Castilla-La Mancha and DQTeam S.L.) and María del Carmen Bauset (Indra Sistemas).
