Meeting of the Electrotechnical Advisory Committee

04/04/2023

On 27 March, the Electrotechnical Advisory Commission (CCE) of the Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, held its first meeting of 2023 in a hybrid format, attended by UNE members representing the electrical and electronics industry.

On this occasion, the members of the CCE had the opportunity to discuss and exchange views with the Belgian candidate for the Presidency of the European Electrotechnical Committee for Standardization (CENELEC), Mr Wim de Kesel, who presented his views on the challenges facing the organisation in the coming years.

The Commission also addressed other national issues such as the place of standardisation activity in the Preliminary Draft Law on Industry and the impact that RD 1055/2022 on packaging and packaging waste is having on the sector.

At the international level, the European Standardisation Framework was discussed, with the High-Level Forum, its main objectives and the priority topics to be addressed (clean technologies, digitalisation, critical raw materials, standardisation education and social inclusion). Reference was also made to some of the European legislation projects currently open to public consultation, such as the Net-Zero Industry and critical raw materials.

Finally, one of the strategic themes of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was discussed, the need to build a digital and fully electric society through the use of global standards.

An interesting meeting in which both cross-cutting and more directly sector-related issues were discussed.
