Óscar Querol (AFME), re-elected Member of the IEC SMB

On 13 November, the meeting of the Board of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was held, at which its members re-elected Óscar Querol as a member of the Standardization Management Board (SMB) for a second three-year term.

Óscar Querol is Technical Director of the Spanish Association of Electrical Equipment Manufacturers (AFME) and Chairman of the Electrotechnical Advisory Committee of the Spanish Association for Standardisation, UNE, Spanish member of IEC.

The SMB is the IEC's technical standardisation board and is responsible for the good development of international electrotechnical standardisation.

This re-election is key to maintaining the influence and contribution of Spanish industry in the IEC international standardisation body, ensuring that its interests are maintained taking into account the relevant challenges such as digitisation, the development of standards in emerging technologies and the improvement of processes to facilitate the work of numerous Spanish IEC experts.

The Spanish standardisation body is the voice for experts from organisations in our country at European and international forums at which key standards are discussed for the competitiveness of Spanish economic sectors. Spanish experts head around 130 international and European technical standardisation bodies.
