New UNE standards for low voltage electrical installations

11/12/2020

The Spanish Association for Standardization (UNE) has published four new parts of the UNE 202009 series of Standards, which are designed to provide criteria for the verification and inspection of low voltage electrical installations.

These new standards facilitate a methodology for verification/inspection and provide the documentation for recording the conditions and values of verification/inspection.

The results of the verifications/inspections must define the corrective actions to be carried out in order to comply with the minimum safety requirements corresponding to this type of installation.

Published Standards:

  • UNE 202009-12. This standard applies to all common installations of residential buildings, including the connecting facilities and common services facilities of the building according to the Low voltage regulation (REBT) 2002: ITC-BT-12.
  • UNE 202009-27. Applies to low voltage electrical installations in premises containing a bathtub or shower covered by the Low voltage regulation (REBT) 2002: ITC BT-27.
  • UNE 202009-28. This standard provides the criteria for verifying and inspecting low voltage electrical installations in places of public concurrence according to the Low voltage regulation (REBT) 2002: ITC BT-28.
  • UNE 202009-38. Applies to the electrical installations in operating theatres and intervention rooms according to the Low voltage regulation (REBT) 2002: ITC BT-38 whether they are powered by isolation transformer or not (group 2 or group 1).

These standards have been developed by the technical standardisation committee CTN 202/SC 64 on electrical installations and protection against electric shock, whose secretariat is headed by the AFME (Spanish Association of Electrical Equipment Manufacturers).
