UNE General Meeting

2018-05-10

The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, has held its General Meeting. Of all the European standards organisations, UNE has participated in the most R+D+i projects from Horizon 2020, the European programme that funds innovative projects. UNE is currently involved in 24 projects that are helping researchers and companies introduce their products or technologies into the market, through the use of technical standards. An illustrative example is the project we are developing for new devices to improve the treatment of multiple sclerosis. Standardisation is an effective response to the needs and new challenges faced by organisations in fields such as innovation, export, training, Industry 4.0, digitisation, cybersecurity, self-driving cars, and social responsibility. As a result, more and more sectors are looking toward it to develop confidence-building solutions resulting from consensus and best practices. Similarly, standards also support the implementation of public policies, simplifying regulatory compliance and increasing the effectiveness of public procurement. In fact, 12% of UNE standards are cited in national law.
