The Spanish standard to help organisations prevent criminal offences is published tomorrow

UNE 19601 criminal compliance management systems.

• Aligned with the new Penal Code, it establishes requirements for introducing a criminal compliance management system with the aim of preventing the perpetration of criminal offences and reducing criminal risk in organisations and in turn, promoting a culture of ethics and compliance.

• Organisations that correctly introduce this standardised model can have their criminal liability mitigated or even be exempt upon demonstrating due diligence and best practices when preventing and detecting the perpetration of criminal offences within the organisation.

• UNE 19601, drawn up with the participation and consensus of leading experts representing different interest groups in the field of criminal compliance, will be certifiable by an independent third party.
